Pee-wee Herman’s legendary red bike from Pee-wee’s Big Adventure has officially found a new home — and yes, it’s headed to the Alamo.

In a nostalgic twist fit for the film’s upcoming 40th anniversary, the Alamo announced via Instagram that it has acquired the original stunt bike featured in the 1985 cult classic. The bike will become a permanent part of the new Alamo Visitor Center and Museum, set to open in fall 2027.

“In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure this summer, the Alamo has officially acquired the original screen-used stunt bike from the film,” the announcement read.

While the museum won’t open its doors for another two years, fans won’t have to wait quite that long to get a glimpse of Pee-wee’s beloved ride. The bike will make a temporary appearance at the Ralston Family Collection Center for a limited-time exhibit.

To top it off, a free public screening of the film will take place in the newly reopened Plaza de Valero. And where will the iconic bike stay in the meantime? The Alamo joked, “Maybe in the basement!”

In the movie, Pee-wee (played by the late Paul Reubens) embarks on a wild quest across the country to recover his stolen bicycle — which, at one point, he believes is hidden in the Alamo’s basement. Art meets life, it seems. Earlier this year, People reported that the bike had been sold at auction to a private collector for $125,000 before making its way to its final (and fitting) home in Texas.

Fans of the quirky comedy can now rest easy — the bike is safe and sound, and it’s coming to a place Pee-wee always believed it belonged.
